Easily the nicest place to stay in town, Mandála has a beachfront location north of the malecón – you can't miss the giant rainbow whale tail beckoning you in. Cabins are scattered throughout a thick and lush flower garden, and the rooms are rustic and sophisticated: wood, bamboo and colorful textiles combine to make charming, cozy hideaways.
Out the front, there's a large, very smart lobby, and bookshelves hold dozens of boardgames for guests to play – games are even etched in to the beautifully designed wooden tables on the restaurant's porch, where visitors can eat a delectable breakfast. Other features include a music room, with everything from a harp and guitar, to African drums and bizarre percussion instruments, and a conservatory with exotic plants and a fish pond. Disabled travelers can enter the lobby via a wheelchair ramp.
