Kamaraj Memorial

Tamil Nadu

This memorial near the shoreline commemorates K Kamaraj, the 'Gandhi of the South’. One of the most powerful and respected politicians of post-Independence India, Kamaraj was chief minister of Madras State and its successor, Tamil Nadu. The memorial itself, however, is such a weak tribute, with blurry photos hung so high they are barely visible, it's not worth going inside.
