Grand Hotel Dahlak

Eritrea

This faded-beauty anchor of Taulud Island's waterfront is the top choice in town, with a colonial-era vibe, but at Western prices. Usually referred to locally as the 'Dahlak Hotel', it's also the site of the only wi-fi on the islands, where each night locals gather just outside to try to pick up the weak signal.

The owner has also launched the construction of a new hotel on the Dahlak Archipelago's Dissei Island, which will likely be called Dahlak Village Resort.
