Welcome to Tinglayan
Three hours north of Bontoc on the Chico River, Tinglayan is the starting point for treks in Kalinga. It's a small, friendly village without too much going on, and most people stay just long enough to find a guide before trekking off into more remote villages. Arrange in advance with a guide such as Francis Pa-In or turn up at either of the guesthouses where they will rustle up a guide for you. If you're coming from the south, it's worth setting up a guide with the excellent Municipal Tourism Office in Bontoc or with any guide organisations in Banaue or Sagada. Guide rates average P1000 per day.
