Welcome to San Carlos
San Carlos is the main port city connecting Negros to Cebu, with daily ferries heading to Toledo, on Cebu's west coast. It's not overflowing with charm. In contrast, nearby Sipaway Island is a nice place to spend a day or two, and is only 15 minutes by bangka from San Carlos port (P15). This pretty, well-kept island has a concrete path that leads through palms and villages from one end to the other, with great views back to Negros. Rent a habal-habal (P60) at the pier and take your time exploring. The island is long and thin, so you can't get lost and residents are happy to chat with strangers.
There are also falls, caves and rice terraces in the San Carlos area. Contact the City Tourism Office for more information.
