Banga-an is where the excellent 45-minute walk to the impressive Bomod-ok Falls (Big Waterfall) begins. You’ll need a guide (P650), as the walk traverses rice terraces and access is sometimes restricted because of traditions associated with the planting and harvest seasons.
Two daily jeepneys go from Sagada to Banga-an, but they aren’t much use to day trippers as they both depart mid-afternoon. Walk or hire transport via the tourist office (P650 return) instead. Jeepneys from Banga-an to Sagada depart early in the morning.
