This 2½-hour hike is the recommended route out of Batad. You'll take in the tiny village of Bangaan with it's Unesco rice terraces and some fantastic vistas en route.
From Batad, take the path towards Batad Saddle. About a minute after you pass the Main Viewpoint, there's a fork in the trail. Take the smaller, lower footpath to the left. From there it’s pretty much smooth sailing, but do pay attention to the trail, as it tends to disappear here and there. You'll enjoy stunning panoramas of the mountains and rice terraces, bisected by a river hundreds of metres below. Eventually you’ll walk through a rice terrace and hit the main road at Lanah, from where it’s 2km to Bangaan Family Inn, which overlooks Bangaan, and another 1.5km from there to Batad junction. Many people arrange a tricycle to meet them at Lanah, which cuts out the walking time on the road.
