The Black Nazarene, a life-size and highly revered statue of Christ in Quiapo Church, is paraded through the streets in massive processions on 9 January and again during the week before Easter (Holy Week). Thousands of devotees crowd the streets carrying the image, believed to be miraculous, on their shoulders.
