Apo Island Marine Reserve & Fish Sanctuary

Diving in Apo Island

This 15,000-sq-metre protected area is one of the most successful marine reserves in the Philippines. The reserve contains a vital marine breeding ground and is a favourite diving and snorkelling site for its excellent visibility and its population of sea turtles that swim close to shore. There are nearly a dozen dive sites, with sloping reefs, walls, coral gardens and drift dives. Most of the bangkas docked here to offload divers are from resorts in Dauin on the Negros mainland.

As a reflection of the state of the world's oceans, plastic bottles float ashore from all over Southeast Asia and beyond.
