Description via Hostelworld

La Escondida is a home away from home for travellers, a magical property nestled in the Urubamba countryside surrounded by mountain views. We offer a family environment in our beautiful home, a tranquil space for guests to de-compress, relax, and connect with the energy of The Sacred Valley. If you are looking for a beautiful Peruvian home to experience the Sacred Valley and have hosts who speak Spanish, French and English, and are experienced travellers with a wealth of knowledge to share then we are the perfect place for you! We are located in the Rumichaca area of Urubamba, a rural countryside area with plenty of great mountain walks on your doorstep, horse riding and close to the river. There is a great little restaurant just 5 minutes’ walk up the road from La Escondida and a few small shops nearby for essentials or you can catch a mototaxi from the main road into the main town (just 5 minutes) for markets, cafes, restaurants, bars etc. There is a large communal kitchen for all the guests which has large fridge/freezer, Oven, 2 dining tables and breakfast bar. Outdoors there is a large clay oven where we cook pizzas on pizza night and which guests are welcome to use as well as a BBQ. The grounds are over a hectare with manicured garden, eucalyptus trees, jasmine, fruit trees, and woodland. And of course a firepit for those night campfires and marshmallow roasting!

Urubamba is the largest town in The Sacred Valley, it is perfectly located to visit all the famous Inca ruins and sites around the Sacred Valley, 30 minutes travel to visit Moray and The Salineras at Maras. 20 minutes to Ollantaytambo for the ruins and train to Machu Picchu. Urubamba itself has many great mountain walks to local ruins, rivers, lagunas and waterfalls. The town of Urubamba has an array of good quality restaurants, bars and colourful markets with fantastic local foods to buy. The local community here is Andean and Quechua is still widely spoken, they are extremely friendly, warm and welcoming and it is a wonderful experience to visit this beautiful town.

We have 5 beautiful rooms available in our Guesthouse, all rooms come with 100% cotton bedding, warm duvets and cotton towels. Jasmines Corner is a Private room with matrimonial bed and large en-suite bathroom with hot gas shower and a cosy outdoor seating area. Cosy Cave is next to Jasmines Corner and is a private room with matrimonial bed and shared bathroom. On the upper level we have Mountain View, a large spacious, bright room with 1 matrimonial bed and 2 twin beds. Mountain view has a balcony where you have fantastic views for the sun setting behind the mountains. At the back of the garden is our quiet private family apartment with 2 bedrooms, 1 with matrimonial bed and the other with 2 twin beds and a sitting room.
