Itinerary

Day 1 Lima

Arrive in Lima at any time. On arrival you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Additional Notes: Please note that hot water shortages and power outages can be fairly common in Peru (even in upgraded hotels and private homes). We appreciate your patience and understanding that these occurrences are outside of our control. Included Activities: Meet and Greet Hotel Welcome Meeting Arrival Day Transport: Private Vehicle

Day 2 Lima/Puno (1B)

Fly to Juliaca then transfer to Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Additional Notes: Located at 3830 m above sea level, Puno is the highest night stop on the tour. As a result the weather can be extreme, with very cold nights and strong sun during the day. Take some time to acclimatise to the high altitude. Transport: Plane (2.00-2.50 hours, 572km) Private Vehicle (0.75-1.00 hours)

Day 3 Puno (1B, 1L)

Enjoy an included lunch with spectacular views on Taquile Island before continuing on to the renowned floating islands of Uros. Learn about its inhabitants and the tortora reeds used to construct the islands, traditional reed boats and almost everything used in their daily life. Return to Puno and opt to visit the Sillustani burial site. Included Activities: Day Trip to Lake Titicaca

Day 4 Puno/Cusco (1B)

Take in the panoramic landscapes and Andean scenery en route from Puno to historic Cusco. Additional Notes: Every year Cusco attracts thousands of travellers who come to delve into its noble but tragic past. It is the perfect base for optional explorations around the city and area as well as a range of outdoor activities. Relax and explore this fascinating city. Transport: Local bus (7.00-8.00 hours)

Day 5 Cusco/Urubamba (1B, 1L)

Travel through the stunning Sacred Valley of the Incas, with guided walks through the Ollantaytambo and Pisac ruins. Also visit a G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op, and have lunch in Huchuy Qosco, an indigenous village running the G Adventures-supported Parwa Community Restaurant. Day 6 Urubamba/Aguas Calientes (1B)

Board a morning train escorted by a local guide. Wind through the spectacular Sacred Valley to the end of the line: the village of Aguas Calientes, a frontier town nestled in the hills beneath Machu Picchu. For serious archaeology buffs, there is time for an optional independent visit to Machu Picchu before the guided tour the following morning. Additional Notes: Please bear in mind that the town has several amenities, but is also geographically remote meaning services are sometimes more basic than one would assume. As the only option for travellers visiting Machu Picchu, the development of infrastructure has happened quite quickly, much without proper planning, and the focus on providing quality service may not be up to the standards experienced in other parts of the country. Transport: Private Vehicle (1.00-2.00 hours) Train (1.50-2.00 hours, 43km)

Day 7 Aguas Calientes/Cusco (1B)

Rise early to take advantage of viewing Machu Picchu in the early morning light. Later in the afternoon, return by train to Ollantaytambo or Poroy and transfer to Cusco by van, arriving in the evening. Included Activities: Machu Picchu Guided Tour Transport: Local bus (0.50 hour(s)) Train (2.00-3.00 hours, 118km) Private Vehicle (1.00-2.00 hours)
