Set in a beautiful garden surrounded by jungle around 1.5km out of town, this well-run lodge has cute little bungalows with sweeping views of forested mountains. The rooms are simple yet functional with good mattresses, fans and hot water, and they reverberate with the sounds of the jungle.
It's a bit of a hike up the hill to the bungalows, but worth it for the panoramic views from the hammock on your balcony. Apart from breakfast there are no meals served, but guests are free to use the well-equipped kitchen. A mototaxi from town costs S8.
Surrounded by forest Escalera Lodge has bungalows with free Wi-Fi and a daily breakfast. Free shuttles to Paredes Airport are offered and the Orchid sanctuary is a 3-minute walk. At Cordillera Escalera Lodge guests can go on bird watching trips, explore the nature trails ub Cordillera Escalera Natural Reserve and visit Urkus Tarapoto Zoo, a 3-minute walk. Bungalows feature terraces with mountain views and bathrooms with 24-hour hot water. Some bungalows are also equipped with kitchen facilities and outdoor dining areas.
