There are scenic lookouts (Inca, Condor) on the hills above town, but as assaults and robberies have been reported (even by groups), it’s not recommended to visit them unless there is a drastic improvement in security.

Oficina de Migraciónes Helps organize student and business visas but can't arrange extensions on tourist cards.

Money

Bolivianos can be exchanged in Puno or at the border. You’ll find an ATM inside the Terminal Terrestre that accepts most bank cards and dispenses US dollars and soles. Scotiabank, Interbank, BCP and Banco Continental all have branches and ATMs on Lima; there’s another Banco Continental at Libertad.

iPerú Patient, English-speaking staff offer good advice here. An excellent first port of call on arrival in Puno. Other useful iPerú offices are at the Terminal Terrestre and Juliaca airport.
