The Sacred Valley of the Incas was certainly a key area of settlement to the Incas. This valley was appreciated by the Incas because of its special geographical and climatic qualities. It was one of the main production sites for the richness of their land and a place where it produces the best maize and potatoes. The tour includes a visit to the ruins and market of Pisac, a stop for lunch in Urubamba Province, and a visit to the beautiful Inca village and fortress of Ollantaytambo, known as a living Inca city. On the way back to Cusco, you will visit Chinchero Village accompanied by an official guide. The tours has a duration of 10 hours.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco between 8am and 8:30am. After going to the lookout (Mirador of Taray) of the Sacred Valley where you can take great pictures of the mountains and the valley, head to the traditional town of Pisac. There, you’ll visit an Indian market and learn a bit more about the lifestyle of the local people. After that, visit the archaeological site and see the agricultural terraces, Inca cemeteries, and royal Inca buildings.After visiting this important region, continue to Urubamba. The buffet lunch will be in a restaurant.Later in the afternoon, head to Ollantaytambo, which was built to guard the entrance to Machupicchu, this part of the valley, and to protect the Incas themselves from possible invasions. Walk the streets and see the archaeological site of this little town to get a clear idea of what this military, religious, and cultural center was really like during the period of the Inca Empire.Later on the way back to Cusco, visit the picturesque village of Chinchero, where you’ll see the remains of the royal estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui and a colonial temple. The colonial temple was built on top of the Inca estate. You will also see how local people dye the alpaca wool with natural plants of the region.Afterwards, return to Cusco around 6:30pm.
