This organization works as a clearinghouse for information about local community tourism in Peru. In the Cordilleras, it can arrange homestays in Vicos, 14km southeast of Carhuaz, a very traditional mountain community.
You will stay in bungalows next to family homes and eat meals with your hosts. They also arrange trips to Huaripampa (near Chavín de Huantar), where visitors learn about traditional weaving.
Activities in the village range from preparing traditional food to participating in farming and craft production. Almost anything you do with the agency will benefit local families and contribute to the growing community tourism movement in the region.
The agency no longer maintains an office in Huaraz, but you can organize trips online or by phoning their office in Cuzco.
