Rancho Santana

Horseback Riding in Around Chiclayo

Readers rave about their experiences riding typical Peruvian pacing horses at this Swiss-owned ranch, which also offers accommodations in a comfortable whitewashed villa with a big swimming pool and fresh milk, sweet mangos and other tropical fruits always on hand.

The owners are highly knowledgeable about Lambayeque cultures and offer half-day to two-day cabalgatas (horse rides) through the Bosque de Pomac, Tucumé and other nearby archaeological sites.

The owners care for their horses exceptionally well – only riders up to 85kg are permitted – and can make even the most inexperienced rider feel comfortable. The tours are great value.

While it's a good idea to stay at the ranch in order to get an early start, the owners also offer a pick-up service in Chiclayo for an additional fee.
