Buses from Cuzco via Paucartambo to Shintuya, leave at 6am, 10am and 1pm for Pilcopata (S20, 10 to12 hours in good weather) daily. Get a taxi to the departure point – it’s extremely difficult to find independently.
Fast boats to Lagunas, which continue on to Iquitos – leaving from the La Boca port. Leaving Yurimaguas at the ungodly hour of 2:30am daily, they hit Lagunas around 7:30am or 8am, getting to Iquitos about 6pm.
Buses depart Cuzco to Paucartambo (three hours) daily and to Pilcopata (10 to 12 hours) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Look for ‘Paucartambo’ painted on a lamp post between auto shops to find the office.
Along this block of Raimondi, several shabby offices offer transport to various Amazon towns. Departures are nevertheless often from stations out on the airport road 4km from the city center - ask.
Star Perú operates two daily flights to and from Lima: the morning flight stops at Pucallpa and the afternoon flight at Tarapoto. Fares are about US$100 to Lima and US$75 to Pucallpa or Tarapoto.
Turismo Ucayali has cars to Tingo María (S45, six hours) via Aguaytía leaving about every hour all day and night. Other companies nearby serve the same destinations for similar prices.
