Ciudad del Este is known as the 'Supermarket of South America,' a great place to look for electronics and foreign goods. If you have more refined tastes, then seek out colorful ñandutí (lace) from Itauguá, or delicate woolen hammocks and ponchos from San Miguel. Leatherwork is particularly good in the country's south, and of course the classic Paraguayan souvenir is the tereré set of termo (flask), bombilla and guampa.
