- Carry sunscreen, a hat and plenty of bottled water to avoid becoming dehydrated.

Theoretically you can be asked for a yellow-fever vaccination certificate at the border.
Private healthcare is expensive. Make sure you have valid insurance.
Availability & Cost of Health Care
Private hospitals are better than public hospitals, and those in Asunción, Ciudad del Este and Encarnación are the best. If you need treatment, get yourself to one of those cities rather than using a clinic in a smaller town.
Water is drinkable in the cities, but avoid it in the countryside. In the Chaco it is positively salty.
