Worth a Trip: Exploring the Coast Around Tufi

One of the highlights of visiting Tufi is staying in villages that dot the coastline on either side. You could spend weeks wending your way along the coast, staying at village guesthouses en route. The accommodation is basic, with mosquito nets and local food (the seafood is tasty), but most visitors rate it as far more memorable than staying at the pricey resort. The guesthouses can also arrange fishing and snorkelling; bring your own gear. Boat transfers cost extra. It’s best, though not essential, to contact them ahead, and this is most easily done through Tufi Resort, since most villages have little or no phone reception and messages are sent by boat.

Most of the villages offer treks, birdwatching, snorkelling, fishing and participation in singsings (celebratory dances/festivals).
