PMV

Roads heading west from Mt Hagen towards Mendi and Wabag have been prone to ambushes in the past and it is worth seeking advice from your place of accommodation before jumping on a west-bound PMV to Mendi (K20, 3½ hours) or Wabag (K20, four hours). It is possible to reach Tari (K50, 11 hours) in one day if you start early.

In the other direction there are buses to Kundiawa (K20, 2½ hours) and Goroka (K30, four hours).

PMVs going east, to Kundiawa and Goroka, leave from the market. PMVs going west, to Wabag, Mendi and Tari, leave from the highway beside Pope Paul's Park.
