A short distance from Koror, the Iro ranks as one of the best wreck dives in Palau. The outside of the ship has developed a nice coating of colourful invertebrates, mostly sponges and oysters. It suffered severe damage after being hit by a submarine torpedo prior to the Desecrate One air raid of March 1944, and sank a few days later. The wreck sits upright between 15m and 36m of water.

Although heavily overgrown with black coral and sponges, the torpedo hole is still clearly visible. Other notable features include the anchor chain, a large bow gun mounted on a huge circular platform, fuel pipes and derricks. Dense schools of fish, especially yellowtails around the mast, add a splash of colour.
