I will go to Pakistan this summer, I'd like to spend 2 or 3 days in Peshawar and I have been told that a NOC is required to stay in Peshawar, is it true ? If yes, is it possible to get it in Peshawar quickly ? if not, is it possible to apply before coming ?
From there I plan to go to Chitral overland (via Lowari pass in one day, or via Swat in two days), in the past a NOC was required for this road, does it still apply ?
I would like to go to north Pakistan this summer, and would be happy to know how recent travelers got their visa.
A friend of mine could not get one 3 years ago, because he mentioned Gilgit - Baltistan as a part of the itinerary the embassy asked him to get a trekking permit from the Gilgit Baltistan Council, while the Gilgit Baltistan council told him it was not necessary since he was just passing by Gilgit. Dead end : no visa. He did not show any LOI from approved travel agency…
Dear fellow traveller,
I just want to give a little warning if you are travelling from Islamabad to anywhere with Turkish Airlines. I had my hand luggage stolen inside the cabin last week during the flight and the cabin crew did nothing about it.
Even if they tell you that you have to put your hand luggage in the overhead lockers I would think about it twice as they do not want to take responsibilities later. And you dont want your camera gear or presents for the Ramadan family visit be stolen!
Does anyone know if a permit is required to visit the Charakusa Valley near k6/7 and Hushe? If so, can anyone suggest a good 4-5 day alternative trek in the area?
I hear that Thalle La is pretty nice but Charakusa has some personal significance.
We came back from our trip to Gilgit Baltistan. I would like to thank everyone here for being so helpful in sharing your knowledge. I could not have gotten as much out of my trip as I did without your advice.
Our travel dates were from 28th April to 6th May 2018, a decent 9 days which allowed us to comfortably cover our main areas of interest. However, having visited GilgitBaltistan, we now feel that there is much more to see and another trip is on the cards. Weather wise, May was a lot colder…
Please anyone advise me the best 03 days (or 4) Pakistan Itinerary suitable for a solo female traveller as I'll be crossing Wagah from India so you can consider it's my starting and exit point.
My travelling period would be mid of July.
Appreciate for any suggestion. Feel free to PM me for any guesthouses/restaurants you may want to recommend.
Many thanks in advance.
I am travelling to Pakistan for two weeks- which I am focusing on Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar for first week:
Fly to Gilgit and focus on the mountains on the second week.
I was looking at the night train journey from Lahore to Peshawar (my days are limited so I am thinking of taking a night train)-
has anyone taken this train route? How was it? and is it true that you can buy the tickets online?
Hallo! I will have approx three weeks in Pakistan in July, and want to focus on the mountains/valleys and Lahore.
Reading maps, blogs and forums, and gazing longingly at Instagram accounts, I've cobbled together a rough route and would be very grateful to receive advice on it regarding feasibility and potential pitfalls.
Fly into Islamabad
Lahore (and cross at Wagah into India)
I don't plan on trekking, just taking in the scenery…
Does ATM in Pakistan work to get cash with << overseas >> bank card ?
Wherever I travel, I rely on ATM and credit card while having some cash for emergency back up. But a friend of mine told me that most ATMs are NOT linked with international network. Is it so? I have both Visa card and Master card, so, either Plus or Cirrus will do.
I start from Lahore, then move up north. I plan to get cash in larger cities but if ATM works in small cities, that's really handy.
Thank you in…
