Barr Al Hickman

Birdwatching in Shana'a

Birdwatchers head to isolated and windswept Barr Al Hickman during migration periods to watch flamingos and shore birds congregate around the brackish lagoons of this coastal plain. Surrounded by sabkha (salt pans) and soft sand, it's a dangerous place to drive without local knowledge, so journeying here in a convoy of at least two vehicles is advisable.

There is no habitation here so wild camping is just that – wild!
