Hurtigruten Coastal Ferry

Ferry in Norway

Norway's legendary coastal ferry is one of the most popular ways to explore. Day in, day out, one of 12 ferries heads north from Bergen, pulling into 35 ports on its six-day journey to Kirkenes. The return journey takes 11 days and covers 5200km. Cabins are available to book, and meals are served in the cafeteria and restaurant.

In good weather (which is by no means guaranteed) the fjord and mountain scenery along the way is nothing short of spectacular. And if you book the full cruise and don't spot the northern lights at least once, it'll book you on a six- or seven-day cruise free of charge.
