For our money, this cosy guesthouse is the top place to stay in Røros. It has the vibe of a traditional mountain hostelry, so expect wood, rugs, rustic furniture and old-fashioned beds – but it's all tastefully done and exceedingly comfortable. The home-cooked buffet breakfast is an absolute feast and almost worth coming for on its own.
Situated in the UNESCO-listed Røros town centre, Erzscheidergaarden offers traditional yet modern rooms with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Røros Church is 150 metres away. A popular homemade buffet breakfast with positive remarks from Lonely Planet is served each morning in the dining room. Free coffee and homemade bakery good are available at all times. Guests can rent traditional Norwegian kick sledges for free on site. Popular activities in the area include cross-country skiing, hiking and dog sledding.
