Don't be deterred by the bland facade that somehow slipped past planning authorities. Fru Haugans (the original owner; see her stare from her portrait in the lounge beside Ellenstuen restaurant) is northern Norway's oldest hotel. Dating in part from 1794, its rooms range from old world to simple and modern. They're all good deals and the location couldn't be better.
It occupies several buildings and has grown organically over the years with a new annex also recently completed. Drop by its little museum, which recounts the hotel's long history. The lovely green garden gives panoramic views directly on to the fjord. The hotel has two fine restaurants: Ellenstuen and Hagestuen.
This 200-year-old waterfront hotel lies 15 minutes’ walk from Mosjøen Station. It has 2 restaurants, a bar and a garden. Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi. Guest rooms at Fru Haugans Hotel have a private bathroom with shower. All rooms include cable TV. Restaurant Ellenstuen’s varied seasonal menu is based on locally sourced ingredients. Restaurant Hagestuen serves a varied à la carte menu including both Norwegian and international dishes. Fru Haugans Hotel’s bar offers live music and dancing on weekends. Mosjøen City Park (Byparken) is within 5 minutes’ walk of Fru Haugans Hotel. Free public parking spaces are found nearby.
