'A temple to lift your spirits' – so observed King Rama V of Siam when he stayed during his grand tour. High on the hill above Geiranger (take Rv63, direction Grotli), the family-owned Utsikten, constructed in 1893, still has stunning views over town and fjord over a century later. Rooms, however, are small and a little more prosaic.
Located in Møre og Romsdal County, this hotel offers Norwegian cuisine and panoramic views of the Geiranger Fjord. Guests can enjoy free WiFi access and free private parking. Hotell Utsikten is housed in a grand, late 1800s building. All rooms have a private bathroom and garden or fjord views. The in-house restaurant serves a set 3-course menu based on local ingredients. During summer, guests can sit out on the terrace. A fully licensed bar is also found on site. The hotel is situated by the National Tourist Route, only 100 metres from the Flydalsjuvet Cliff. The Seven Sisters Waterfall is also nearby. Staff at Utsikten is happy to recommend nearby sights and provide other tourist information. Fishing, hiking, diving and other activities can be arranged.
