This is the perfect trip for all who like photographing birds and hiking! We start by car from Longyearbyen and drive out towards Mine 3, where we will pass the famous Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Then we enter Bjørndalen, the Bear Valley, where we start our hike to the birds. We first cross a river and then start walking up the mountain towards the towering Fuglefjella (Bird Mountain). There we can see thousands of nesting birds. The main season with the most activity is from June to mid-August. We have good chances to see some of the Svalbard Reindeers and Arctic Foxes on the way to the top of the bird cliff. When we reach the plateau at approximately 430 metres above the sea level, we stand on top of the biggest bird cliff in the area and get a nice view over Isfjorden and its surrounding glaciers in the distance.
