Explore Scandinavia's largest cave system Svarthammarhola. Situated approximately 7 km from Fauske town centre, towards the town of Sulitjelma. It contains large halls that are well suited for caving enthusiasts of all backgrounds, and for those looking for something more challenging, there are opportunities to try more complicated routes which require crawling in order to move forward. On your way to the cave system you will walk up alongside the mountain, giving you a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape. The terrain will be steep and rugged, so it is recommended that you have good footwear to make your way up to the cave. This takes around one hour in the summer - a little longer in the winter. We use well-qualified guides who have a solid knowledge of the Svarthammarhola system and who put safety and wellbeing at highest priority. Upon arrival at the opening of the cave there will be a dinner break before changing clothes and heading into the cave. Please bring good quality waterproof mountain boots or strong walking boots. We also recommend that you bring a set of towels that can be used to clean yourself when finished. It's cold inside the cave, so extra warm clothes are essential after the trip.
