Saint Patrick's Way

Downpatrick is the terminus of Saint Patrick's Way, a 132km signposted pilgrim walk from Armagh City, linking sites related to St Patrick. Starting at Navan Fort, the walk passes along the Newry canal towpath to Newry, through Rostrevor and across the Mourne Mountains to Newcastle on the way to Downpatrick. You can pick up a free Pilgrim Walk Passport (available at the Navan Centre and tourist offices) and collect stamps along the way.

If walking doesn't appeal, pick up a map for the Saint Patrick's Trail, which highlights St Patrick–related and other Christian sights on a driving route from Armagh to Bangor. You'll find copies of the map in tourist information centres.
