Within the city are a number of tourist sights that include the Sonjuk Bridge, a tiny clapper bridge built in 1216 and, opposite, the Songin Monument, which honours neo-Confucian hero Chong Mong-ju. There is also the Nammun, the south gate of the old walled city, which dates from the 14th century and houses an old Buddhist bell, and the Sungyang Seowon, a Confucian academy.
