Buses leave Mérida for Altagracia (US$1.20, 1½ hours) at 4am, 5:45am, 8:30am, 10:15am and 3:30pm, with the 4am, 8:30am and 3:30pm buses continuing to Moyogalpa (US$2, 2½ hours), though only the 8:30am bus in considered reliable. Buses from Mérida to San Ramón depart at noon and 3:30pm (US$0.30, 30 minutes), and return at 5:15am, 9:45am and 3pm. The San Ramón-Altagracia buses (US$1.50, 1¼–2 hours) depart at 5:15am, 9:45am and 3pm, with the 3pm bus continuing to Moyogalpa (US$1.50, three hours).
If you're headed to a specific finca or guesthouse, consult with them first – they can help you come up with the best plan for the time of day you're arriving so you can avoid getting stranded.
Car & Motorcycle
The road is unpaved and seriously bumpy, and is particularly rough beyond San Ramón. Fun on a motorbike, an ATV or a mountain bike, though, and better in the rainy season, when the ground is softer and the rocks don't jut out as much.
