Around 30km south of Jalapa, these thermal baths are constructed over mineral-rich waters reputed to have medicinal properties. The waters gush out of the ground and are so hot at their source that you can boil an egg (there are even dedicated cooking holes for this). Fortunately the relaxation pools are not quite so hot; there is a large, round pool included in the admission price and three smaller rectangular baths for private soaks, one of which is wheelchair-accessible.

The whole complex is surrounded by nature and there are huts with picnic tables and hooks for hanging hammocks dotted around the property. Any bus between Jalapa and Ocotal will drop you at the entrance by the river, from where it's about a 1.5km hike to the springs. A taxi from Jalapa costs around US$25.
