A recent agreement between a historic preservation society and a Wyoming air force base has paved the way for a Cold War-era missile silo to become a tourist destination.
Restoration is underway at the Quebec-01 Missile Alert Facility near Cheyenne, Wyoming, to reinstall vintage computer systems and equipment to the underground nuclear launch site.
After becoming active in 1962, the facility ran 24-hour shifts in a control room 110ft underground that were prepared to launch 10 missiles installed at various locations across the Wyoming prairie.
