A Winnipeg man says he and his family were treated ‘like terrorists’ at the US border while attempting to pass through on a family road trip. On Saturday Abdelkrim Boulhout says he and his family were stopped at the Canada–US border on their way to Grand Forks, ND, questioned for seven hours and eventually denied entry.
Boulhout says he believes it has something to do with the fact that he and his family are Muslim, though he was never told why they were being detained. Boulhout says he doesn’t have a criminal record and has entered the US several times before. Border officials searched the family van and asked Boulhout’s wife if she was armed. After two hours of questioning, the family withdrew their request for entry but were not allowed to leave. It would’ve been his wife’s first time visiting. Read more: cbc.ca
