Last week a correspondent from ‘The Daily Show’ traveled to Alaska to poke fun at the debate over the name of North America’s tallest mountain. Known by Alaska Natives as Denali (‘the Great One’), the mountain is officially recognized as Mount McKinley, a name bestowed by a gold prospector in support of then-presidential-candidate William McKinley. The ‘Daily Show’ correspondent interviewed Evon Peter, an Athabascan chief and supporter of recognizing the mountain as Denali. Then Kimberly Kenney of the William McKinley Presidential Museum in Ohio was interviewed defending the official name, although McKinley has little relation to the mountain. Read more: adn.com
