Air New Zealand’s chief medical officer expressed his disappointment when members of a US tour group admitted that they were likely to be infected with norovirus when they boarded a domestic flight. The information was disclosed when a passenger vomited on the flight from Queenstown to Rotorua, resulting in the flight being grounded in Christchurch. Flying while ill is against International Air Transport Association medical guidelines and while airport staff screen passengers for obvious signs of illness it's up to passengers to report if they are unwell.
