The Assistant Commissioner of the Uganda Police has announced that the country’s tourism police force, now over 700 strong, has been deployed to many of Uganda’s protected areas, such as national parks and game reserves, and to tourism cluster areas like Buhoma, which is the main gateway to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. He also confirmed that training further recruits was still underway and numbers of tourism police should eventually rise to as many as 3000.
