Britain’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office has come under fire over its travel advisory warnings for Nepal, after claims from trekking agencies that its advice is impeding the recovery effort in the earthquake-hit nation.

Despite surveys giving the all-clear for trekking around Mount Everest (Sagarmatha) and other mountain regions in Nepal, the FCO travel advisory still lists Everest as a no-go area, along with a number of other regions which are known to be safe, deterring travellers who might otherwise visit Nepal and contribute financially to Nepal’s recovery.
