An American tourist on a whale-watching trip in Iceland has taken pictures of harpooned fin whales being dragged into shore by a whaling ship.

After the incident whale-watching companies and environmental groups increased their calls for whale hunting to be banned or restricted, with one suggestion being that it could be prohibited in areas used by whale-watching tours. The news comes as 68,000 postcards were delivered to Iceland’s Ministry of Fisheries. The cards, mostly signed by tourists, pledged that the person signing would not eat whale meat during their time in Iceland. Read more: grapevine.is
