The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will begin to allow public transport passengers to purchase fares using credit and debit cards in the new year. Beginning 1 January, passengers can use cards to buy ten or more single passes or a multi-fare pass at any of the network’s 69 stations. The mayor of Toronto, John Tory, announced the new system, saying the old method of using cash to purchase fares was ‘almost prehistoric’. Read more: cbc.ca
