Around 1000 people joined a peaceful demo in Stockholm, Sweden, on Tuesday night to protest against an anti-begging campaign on display in the city's Östermalmstorg metro station.
The English-language advertising campaign was launched by the Sweden Democrats, an anti-immigration party, and specifically addressed tourists, apologising for the 'mess' caused by begging in the city. The party says the government isn’t doing enough to prevent organised gangs forcing people to beg. Meanwhile, protesters, who say the ads are racist and dehumanising, also criticised the transport company SL for allowing the ads to be run.
