The Foreign Ministry of South Korea has stated that the country is now safe from Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) after an outbreak of the disease started in May.

There were at least 186 known cases and 33 deaths, stemming from infections within hospitals. As of the 21st of July, there had been no new MERS cases reported for 16 days and numerous reported recoveries. The South Korean government urged foreign diplomats to encourage tourism and travel to the country as its economy slowed in the wake of the outbreak. Read more: koreaherald.com
