Diago Narita, a Japanese cyclist who had his bicycle and gear stolen in Ceres as he approached the end of his three and a half year cycle through Africa, was reunited with his cherished ride after a social media campaign went viral in South Africa’s Western Cape. Local adventurer Riaan Manser got the ball rolling with some Facebook posts and tweets, and soon the #getthebikeback was trending wildly, with radio stations and newspapers joining the campaign. The bike was found just six hours after the campaign was started, albeit in pieces. However, one of the owners of a Ceres cycle shop has volunteered to put it back together for Narita. Manser said, 'It’s an amazing end to a negative story.'
