In the face of the ongoing drought affecting the state, officials in California have announced a new water-conserving measure – turning off  all showers and ‘rinse stations’ at state beaches from Wednesday, 15 July.

The measures will also extend to state parks where visitors use an average of 25 gallons a day. For anyone worried about getting sand in their cars after a day at the beach, the press release offers suggestions on how to avoid this. Read more: parks.ca.gov
