Seven earthquakes struck the island of Taiwan on Wednesday night. Three of the quakes were epicentred in the northeastern part of the region off the coast of Yilan County, the largest of which registered a 4.5 magnitude.

Four further quakes were felt further south, including a 5.5-magnitude tremor that struck near Hualien. No major damage or injuries were reported and scientists said the two sets of quakes were normal releases of seismic energy and were unrelated to each other. Read more: taiwannews.com.tw
