At least seven people have been killed in Germany as a result of Storm Niklas. The south of the country has been worst affected and winds of up to 193 km/h have been recorded. Two men and a woman were killed in Bavaria and Rhineland-Palatinate after trees fell on their cars, and three have died in traffic accidents caused by the storm. Transport has also been crippled, with Frankfurt Airport being forced to cancel 180 flights on Tuesday. Meanwhile rail operator Deutsche Bahn has warned passengers to expect delays following severe damage to overhead cabling. Read more: thelocal.de
