Russian traveller Fyodor Konyukhov is planning to fly solo around the world in a balloon in an attempt to break the record set by American Steve Fossett in 2002.
The flight should be non-stop and it’s planned to start from the west coast of Australia in June 2016. It is expected to last from 13 to 15 days covering a distance of 33,000km and following the route Australia–New Zealand–South America–South Africa–Australia. Live coverage of the flight will be provided as the balloon will be equipped with video cameras. Konyukhov has already travelled to both the North and South poles and he climbed the seven highest peaks in the world. Read more: rbth.com
