Conservationists have been attempting to coax a beaked whale into deeper waters after it swam into the shallow waters of a bay near Wismar on Germany’s Baltic coast.

The team from the National Maritime Museum in Stralsund are using a recording of the species' call, though they don't know if it will be successful. Beaked whales are usually found in the Atlantic and are rarely seen in Baltic waters. Conservationists want to avoid dragging the whale into deeper waters so as to avoid causing any further stress to the mammal. Read more: thelocal.de
